My students need a brand new projector so they will be able to acquire information, make meaning of challenging material, and transfer knowledge in real life situations.

The "Big Black Hole" is what my students would call our old projector. It earned that name because every time we used that projector a big black hole would appear in the center on the projection, which made it more difficult for students to see materials the teacher would present.
My students are a great group of young minds.
They are very intuitive and invested in their learning. In addition, they are highly motivated by in classroom writing competitions and overall self-improvement in all subject areas. In many ways the concept of self-improvement ties in with the school motto Meliora (ever better) because we consistently teach our students to strive to make themselves ever better individuals in society. We attend a charter school in central Harlem that houses many other schools. Ultimately, we strive to have the best academic year possible this coming year. And one way we can help accomplish that is with a brand new projector!
Our classroom desperately needs a a good projector. This resource will be most beneficial to our class because it would ensure that our students have the best equipment for learning in the classroom. We believe this new projector will change our class for the better because the students will have better visuals of math word problems and reading passages. We would also be able to pinpoint and clearly project areas we want them to focus on. In many ways this will help transfer that knowledge for independent work. For example, having this projector would be essential when comparing two pieces of writing (for competitions) and lead to fruitful collaborative discussions.
Our school community and students are appreciative of your efforts to help us achieve another successful school year.
And with your donations we will be able to focus more intently on math and reading problems with ease. This will help us cut back on the amount of paper we use and save money. Also, the students will become more active and take more ownership of their learning if they are held accountable for the work they present and analyze.
