Meeting the Needs of All Learners
My students need activities at their reading level along with appropriate level of nonfiction books.
Every child learns at a different pace and level. A student needs to learn both fiction and nonfiction books to be prepared for the changes coming with the implementation of the Common Core standards.
Our class is a diverse class made up of 20, reading loving students.
We enjoy reading all types of books at our own pace. We are a high risk poverty school with many challenges within our walls. Despite the funding, we find ways to have books and to enjoy reading them!
With the provided materials, the students will be able to comprehend, decode, and enjoy books at their own level. With the changes to reading based on the Common Core standards, we need nonfiction books to prepare them for the grade levels ahead of them. With these nonfiction books, each student will be able to read and enjoy at their own instructional level.
The importance of reading is vast and needs the proper materials to be successful.
With the wrong level of books in a child hands, they can easily be frustrated and give up on reading. We need to supply our students with just right books for them to continue their love of learning!
