I team teach at my school, which means that I teach two sessions of math and science. My students are your typical 6th-grade students who love to talk, goof around, and learn. Like all years, I have a very diverse bunch of students with many different needs. I have students who learn best on the floor, talking with partners, small group, on their own, and many other ways. It is a challenge I relish to meet their needs. This is where you can help.
I am switching to a modified flexible seating classroom.
While I know these are all the rage now, I want to do a modified version of this, which means no couches, tents, or low tables. I want my students this year and in the years to come to have options for seating but within a structured environment. I need some items for my classroom that will give students options for when it is time to work and help them focus when they are at their table. Thank you.
My Project
The 3-way easel will allow students to work standing up and have someone right around the corner to verify their thinking or help them with a problem. The flex bands are for my more high-energy students who need to be able to move, but also need to stay at their desk. The medium-sized whiteboards will allow students to work on the floor and have a larger space to work.
I have students who prefer to work on the floor, stand up, and stay at their desk.
These supplies will help them to learn in the environment that suits them best. Thank you for helping my students feel comfortable and successful.
