Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergarten students are ages four to six. Many of them come from low income households and participate in free or reduced price lunches. They are very curious and eager to learn. They come to school everyday with a smile and often brings me pictures or a note they wrote as a gift.
My students are fun and they keep me on my toes.
Like most kindergarten students, they learn best with hands-on learning projects and activities. Their curious nature helps them to learn and ask questions. My students would love to know that others care and want to help them build a life long foundation for learning.
My Project
In the kindergarten classroom, we learn many things through reading, writing and problem solving. The students ages range from four to six years old and many of them have never been to school. As a teacher, I do my best to create a safe and fun environment for learning. Part of that is having the proper supplies to support their learning.
Supplies are often limited at this time in the school year.
Glue sticks, dry erase markers, crayons and pencils tend to be used very quickly in kindergarten. Learning to take care of our supplies and being responsible is a year long skill that takes time to learn, as well as money to replace what is needed. Thank you for helping me make a difference in the lives of my students.
