I have the pleasure to teach first grade in a charter school of a highly populated area of Pinellas County Florida. The joys of teaching six and seven year old children to become a good math student is immeasurable. Charter schools use many materials and the materials I am requesting will only enhance my students learning!
My classroom is made up of eighteen unique individuals.
Some of my students can barely recognize the digits, while I have some who can add two digit numbers together. I would love to have more manipulatives that would help me enhance all students love of math!
My Project
These materials will help students to recognize number from 0-120. Teach time, addition and subtraction. The number lines will help teach math strategies, such a counting on, and counting back. Bingo is a fun way to teach any skill. The unifix cubes are the best tool to help children learn number value, called place value.
We learn by doing, hands on math is the best tool for learning!
Our students will DO math with all the interactive tools I have requested. Math is learned with concrete examples first. Please help me give these students the tools they need to learn number concepts.
