My Students

The Brown School is a district-wide magnet school serving a student population in grades K-12. It is the only public school of its kind in the district. The magnet designation brings about significant advantages and problematic disadvantages. The student population, approx. 702 students, creates a unique small learning community. The Brown School is located in downtown Louisville and is housed in an aging building of a former vocational school.

Our small learning community provides Brown students the unique opportunity to learn and grow where all students are known by all teachers.

The Brown School student can take advantage of the close contact and interaction with faculty and administrators that can only be provided in a smaller setting. Everyday we work towards our vision of "forging reasoned minds and educated hearts".

My Project

My darling students are super excited about learning, and they always seem to be in motion! A classroom grid rug will allow my students to have their own individual space, and also give some wiggle room during our group meeting times and still be on task.

We need a rug that will help define personal space for fidgety kindergartners, so we can get down to the business of learning.

In addition, our carpet will help with transition times, learning centers, help create groupings, or having a soft place to read a book in the class library. This colorful rug will be a great overall instructional tool for our classroom.
