Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My class includes 25 student in an urban setting. Many of my students have experienced trauma and are in need of strategies to help them regulate their emotions and find calm in today's chaotic world. They are a great group of students that need help developing strategies to manage their feelings so they can focus and learn in the classroom setting. I'm excited to be help them learn calming strategies that will help them both in and out of the classroom.

My Project

The speaker will be used to amplify the sound of the daily meditation for kids on an app that would otherwise be very difficult to hear. We have tried it for our first three days of school and it is tough for everyone to hear. So far they are really enjoying their meditation time and this would help improve their experience with it.

The pack of stress balls will help students take a break in the calming corner.

They will go into the bucket with other sensory items to help them get back on track emotionally so they can rejoin the class and our learning.

The books will help students learn more about what it means to be a good friend and citizen.
