Medical Learning In The Classroom: Our Future Medical Professionals
My students need 5 Chromebooks to take them beyond the walls of our classroom as we study and learn about different medical conditions, research treatments and real life medical issues in the media.
Our high school has started a Health Science Academy and my students have chosen the medical pathway and are our future Nurses, Doctors and Emergency workers. I am excited to work with these students and see their excitement for the medical field!
My Health Science classroom is a place of challenge and discovery.
Students spend this year learning the foundation of knowledge and skills they will need as they move forward in the medical pathway.
They are excited to explore the world of different medical avenues, to learn about the diseases, practice skills and to expand their capacity for critical thinking. They take pride in their efforts and are willing to challenge their minds for the sake of learning.
My Project
Having the set of 5 Chromebooks will allow for different structures of learning in my classroom. On way they will be used is to look up medical conditions for research and learning. Another way they will be used is by recording the signs and symptoms of different medical conditions. They could collaborate on group findings by sharing through the Chromebook. I could download apps for various medical practice skills which would allow me to have activities for both my highest performing and most struggling students.
My project will make a difference because, as I said before, these students are the digital natives.
Our classrooms are not yet at the level technologically to meet their needs as learners. This grant will help to close that gap just a little bit more.
