Students at our school come from very low socio-economic backgrounds. Students will visit centers daily for free choice work and teacher guided centers.
Research shows that children who feel that they are a part of a classroom community are more likely to succeed in the classroom and respect their environment.
Nearly all of our student body receives free or reduced-price lunch. Many students also enter school speaking English as their second language. Our school community provides a variety of services for our students individually, and we will greatly benefit from any assistance in our classroom!
My students have gotten off to an amazing start with the technology in our classroom. I would like to continue adding to it with this ipad. This ipad will allow my students more access to our schools reading program called Lexia. Lexia is a computer program where students practice reading skills like rhyming and letter recognition.
Students will also be able to dig deeper into media literacy.
Students will learn to record and edit videos. These videos will be nursery rhymes and plays that students will get to perform through the year. They will also be able to practice coding through an app that works with the ipad. They will learn and practice safe digital norms and create assignments with this ipad.
