Help me give my students headphones in order for them to listen to passages and/or texts to gain knowledge within diverse media. By donating to this project, you will help my students interpret media literacy through differentiation.
I teach a diverse group of wonderful 7th-grade learners. They are creative, thoughtful, and they love to learn! We are an inclusive school, located in the heart of Wyoming, that provides services for a number of students on IEPs for our district. My students are diverse regarding their backgrounds, but they love to read!
I have several students that are unable to practice skills and/or homework at home due to the fact that they lack supplies and resources.
I incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met. They come to school every day ready to learn. I am truly blessed to have these students in my life!
My Project
My students need several opportunities to gain knowledge. One of our 7th-grade outcomes is for students to compare/contrast texts to an audio, video, or multimedia version of a text, analyzing each medium’s portrayal of the subject. In order for my students to master this, each student needs to have their own personal headphones. We have several students who are not able to purchase headphones. This would allow me to store their individual headphones at school. The 7th-grade students would have access to their personal headphones each day and this would allow them to continue to utilize digital media to achieve success within this outcome.
Students would be able to focus on learning using a variety of digital literacy outlets.
The students, having their own headphones, will be able to access: books, magazines, news articles, etc. Having multiple avenues of digital literacy at their fingertips; would allow me to differentiate their reading needs. Storing their individual headphones, within our classroom, would ensure that students have access to them daily as needed.
