My third graders are a great group of students! My classroom is made up of thirty eager third graders. I also have a wide range of reading and math abilities in my classroom. My reading levels range from pre-kindergarten to fourth grade.
It's important that I read with these children every day to get them on grade level by the end of the year.
Many of my students are very low readers, speak English as a Second Language, and get free or reduced-price lunch. All my students will do anything for anybody, especially the ESL students. We are always bringing the best out of everyone. Despite my students' backgrounds, they all have one thing in common, and that is their love of learning and helping others.
My Project
I am asking for a new media cart so that we utilize the technology we have in the classroom to the fullest. Our current media cart is at the center of our classroom. It gives us a place to use our projector so that we can read together, dance with our friends, and learn from one another.
Technology is a great tool to have in the classroom, but unfortunately, our current media cart is old and out of date.
Because of use and age, the outlets on our media cart no longer hold plugs securely in place which makes me worried about the safety of my students. We need those outlets to use resources, like our projector and document camera.
Nothing seems more hazardous than wires and cords in the middle of the floor with 30 third graders moving all around. Our classroom should be a safe place to learn, not an obstacle course. This new media cart would allow me to use the technology my students need to learn, without worrying about their safety.
