My students need tools like meter sticks and measuring tapes to help them learn about measurement in math class and to record data in our science labs.

My Students

My students are bright, excited learners who want to do their best. I teach in a Title 1 school and many of my students receive free/reduced lunch and bring home backpacks of food on the weekend. I provide a lot of school supplies and snacks out of my own pocket.

Our school is a welcoming place where everyone knows they are loved and everyone is encouraged to reach their fullest potential.

We all work hard to provide the very best educational experience for our students because they are our neighbors and "our kids". We strive for greatness, knowing that it's hard but it is worth it.

My Project

These meter sticks and measuring tapes will help my students to learn about measurement in a hands-on way. They will be able to visualize the size of millimeters, centimeters, and meters, as well as inches, feet, and yards, to truly grasp the concept of conversions. They will also use them in science labs to take measurements and data.

Getting the chance to be a scientist gets students excited about learning.

Measuring how far a paper airplane flies or how far a toy car rolls off ramps of different start heights will give them the opportunity to truly practice the scientific process.
