Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are falling in love with science class and the subject of science itself. They all come from poor backgrounds so they have no real experiences outside of school. They have suffered even more since hurricane Harvey hit our district very hard last year. Most of our students are smart and they want to get the same experiences out of science that other schools and students get.
The students we have really want to learn and we can get them to higher level with some resources.
My Project
Science students in Middle School are required to learn about chemistry which means we as science teachers get to plan really cool labs. However our schools supplies are in such bad shape that we only have a single class set of glass ware which means we have to take turns using the equipment for experiments. This usually means that we only get to do a quarter to the experiments that we need to just because we do not have something as simple as glass ware. So give us the opportunity to teach chemistry the way it is supposed to be taught. Help us do fun exciting labs with our new equipment.
