Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a small, urban, public school and know their classmates well. They are eager, active learners, yearning for hands-on opportunities. The middle schoolers enjoy exploring and experiencing the real world.
My middle school students research to uncover meaning and investigate to understand new concepts.
While students are quite adept at utilizing technology, they also appreciate chances to work with materials, conduct labs, and use science process skills. They are able to focus and engage in deeper learning, creating unique products.
My Project
Manipulating lab measurement tools allows students to gain a clearer picture of basic units of measure. Through hands-on exploration and problem-solving, they experience first-hand the importance of precision and accuracy in measurement. Also, students engage in the process of calculating with greater understanding, after using measurement tools to build knowledge.
By donating to this project, you will help students learn and retain real-world knowledge and skills.
Using a triple beam balance, a compact scale, a spring scale, a meter stick, a beaker, and a graduated cylinder will give my students experiences they need to grasp basic concepts as they explore properties of matter.
