Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at our school are curious and eager for opportunities to learn, grow, and collaborate. We are a group of approximately fifty 7th and 8th graders, who are newer to the idea of project based learning. Many of our students struggle to connect our content with the real world. It is our hope that through meaningful projects, a problem-based approach and hands on activities, our students will see their full potential and come up with even more questions about the world around them!
My students need hands on, authentic experiences that will allow them to dive in and appreciate the excitement of math and science learning and discovery...This year, we are looking to engage in many math explorations, science investigations, hands on tasks, and authentic projects that will help us meet this need.

My Project
Our students need geometry toolkits and group sets of materials to create their interactive math notebooks. Students will be able to use the protractors, ang-legs, measuring tapes and more to really FEEL and measure angles, CREATE and draw shapes, and truly EXPLORE the math concepts we want them to learn. I find that my students can deepen their understanding when they have a chance to measure it, draw it, and physically hold it - and then apply their learning in an organized notebook.
