My Students

I teach a fabulous group of 105 fourth graders. The students are extremely eager and ready to learn something new every day. I am very thrilled to be with such amazing students and teaching partners that are supportive and helpful!

A huge struggle I face is having the materials and organizing them for the students so they can easily access them.

I want all students to gain success in all areas and by doing that they need to have easy access to their learning materials.

I teach in a rural school district in Indiana. The school contains grades K-5 and we have a little over 500 students. Each grade level has four teachers and roughly between 25-27 students.

My Project

My students are in dire need of rulers and pan balances to use during mathematics and science. In fourth grade the students learn about measurement and are expected to be able to understand and apply these concepts. These manipulatives will help the students gain and develop a better understanding of measurement along with being able to phyically measure items.

Being able to physically manipulate the materials makes a world of difference with comprehending and applying measurement.

The students will be able to practice measuring lengths and masses. We currently do not have rulers at their tables for them to use.
