Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 22 diverse students are very curious about the world around them. They love to share, be creative, and inspire others. The students have an intense interest in learning and being successful. Their energy level provides the perfect opportunity for hands-on engaging learning opportunities. My energetic students come to school each day eager to learn, and they like to question their learning. My students enjoy a challenge and competition. They strive to do their best each day to be successful.
My Project
When learning the complex early mathematics skills in second grade, it is important to have items to make the learning stick. Math manipulatives will allow all my students access to hands-on items they can manipulate as they work independently, in small groups, and in whole groups. Students will use these items while completing activities, task card, and during testing. The manipulatives will allow abstract mathematical ideas to become more concrete and "real" to the students as they work problems, task, and math scenarios. Students will have access to the items during their entire math block to use freely as needed.
