Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am one of the 2nd grade teachers at an elementary school in Arkansas. The student population is 99% free and reduced lunch and 55% of our students are English Language Learners. Our students endure challenges both in and out of the classroom.
Despite the many challenges they endure, our students are eager to learn and do their best.
We are excited about a year with meaningful learning experiences.
Our school is working on becoming a "90/90/90 School". A "90/90/90 School" is a school that has at least 90% combined minority, at least 90% free or reduced lunch qualified students, and at least 90% of its students successful on standardized assessments. This type of school would appear to be doing something unexpected that is leading to a high level of student achievement under challenging circumstances.
We have work to do to meet this goal and have 90% of our students successful on end of the year assessments and performing on/above grade level. By donating to this project, you are helping us make progress.
My Project
Your donation will help us receive materials that will be needed and used throughout the year. The books and seal will add to our units of learning. The laminator will help with projects and displaying work. The clear tape will be used to hang things up in our room and do a variety of STEM projects. The scissors will be used every day on work and projects.
