Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing in every way! They are energetic, kind, risk takers, curious and all around great kids. They come to school every day ready to learn. We are a Title I school with almost 100% free lunch. These children face challenges every day in their home lives and many come to school to feel safe. Many of these children have never been to school. This is their first experience in a classroom. I want to give them an experience that will make them want to be life-long learners.
My Project
Children learn best when they think they are playing. They don’t even realize that they are building skills that will follow them throughout their lives. It is important to have students engaged in the task or activity. My class is lacking center materials and games that are an essential part of the school day. These items will engage the students while they are learning. The children in my class will use these center activities everyday to promote academic and social growth as well as independence. Students will use the magnetic letters and the letter activity center to help with letter recognition and word building. They will use the manipulates library to work on fine motor skills and problem solving. The soft seats will be used in the reading center area so the children have a special place to read.
