Meaningful Dictionaries for Each Student

Help me give my students their own dictionaries to keep in their book boxes for spelling, idioms, synonyms, antonyms, and homonyms. Students will be able to use these resources when working on assignments for writing.

My Students

I teach resilient learners in central Montana. Many of my students come from generational poverty and historical trauma that impacts their lives and their education daily. Despite this, my students are excited to come to school and learn every day. Their energy and excitement is contagious and makes me a better teacher.

As a literacy teacher, I want to create a culture for reading.

The students that I work with are struggling readers but despite this, they still come to school willing to work hard and learn.

My Project

Fourth-grade students are expected to expand their writing. Students are learning to be more independent this school year especially during remote learning at home.

Students write to express, discover, record, develop, reflect on ideas, and problem-solve.

Fourth-grade students are able to select and use different forms of writing for specific purposes such as to inform, persuade, or entertain. Students having access to these dictionaries during remote learning will not only help them with their writing but students will have the opportunity to have brand new dictionaries to motivate them with their assignments.
