Help me give my students ETA hand2mind Foam Place Value Disks, Unifix cubes, dry erase markers, and other math supplies that are required in our upcoming units!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a Title I school in Richmond, Virginia. Several of the students in my classroom have experienced trauma throughout their life. In spite of their challenges, my students view my classroom as a safe place and are always eager and ready to learn.
It is always a joy to see the way their faces light up when they get the opportunity to be actively engaged in what we are doing academically.
My students have a passion for the things we are learning about, especially when it is related to their own lives or things they are interested in.
My Project
These materials are resources we need to help me teach our new math curriculum.
Many of these supplies will be used in our upcoming unit about place value, such as the base 10 blocks, straws, and place value cards.
Even our tape measure will help students, by using them as a giant number line and our money will help us with regrouping.
Many of these supplies will also be used later on when we revisit measurement and money later in the year as well as when we go on to other units such as multiplication.
With the higher level of thinking required from this new curriculum, our students need help making sure we have the supplies needed to get them to that level of abstract thinking.
