My students are typical middle school students. We are a large, suburban school with a family feel. The students are lively, loud, and lovable. This group will be entering middle school for the first time, and finding their way in a new school. It will not take them long to become comfortable in middle school and become leaders in their classes.
They overcome challenges and work hard for their goals daily.
They keep me laughing with their silly stories and inspire me with their resilience. We are going to have a great year.
It is not often that students request books. I was shocked when my students were so eager and excited to tell me about the Maze Runner series. A student was returning the book last week to my classroom shelf, and made the comment, "If we read this in reading, it would be lit!" I told him he was right, and that it would also be literature! So, for our complex fiction unit at the end of the year, I would like to read The Maze Runner with my 6th graders. With a story that is so interesting to them, they would be able to enjoy the complex tasks we will be diving into.
