Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at our amazing urban school are extremely diverse, anxious to learn, and ready to connect with school culture and the world. Our district is one of the most diverse in California with many languages, cultures, and proficiency levels. Many of our students come anxious and ready to learn.
As in ecosystems, diversity is an asset in our urban Title I school.
There are still populations of students who feel disconnected and alienated from school culture. Besides academics we are constantly focused on social skills, and problem solving.
My Project
My eighth grade science class needs a new MacBook Air computer to interface with force and magnetic sensors, as well as biometric sensors that read blood pressure, heart rate, and pH.
Measuring physics forces is engaging and relevant to students but they need a back up computer because so many of our chromebooks are old and falling apart.
I have sent one device five times to get fixed and it still doesn’t work. Reliable technology is essential in any science classroom in this day and age. Even state tests are administered on computers.
Please help funding to secure the tech we desperately rely on.
