These students are the most energetic, curious and persistent learners! They learn best, not through direct instruction, but through exploring concepts themselves. They are self-driven and ask "what if" questions until all possible outcomes are exhausted. This class represents a broad spectrum of student interests such as those that will pursue higher education and those that will tackle a technical degree or certification.
I love seeing these students collaborate and learn together even though their post secondary pursuits will be very different.
I have asked numerous post-secondary physics students "What concept have you had the most trouble with in college?" Overwhelmingly the answer has been "vector quantities".
The force table allows students to experiment with different force vectors to understand that more than one applied force can be "resolved" into one equivalent force by the use of simple trigonometry.
I currently have one force table for demonstration but have found that students want to manipulate and experiment with the table themselves to discover the relationship of two or more force vectors. Additional force tables would be invaluable for these students to discover the world of vectors.
