Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am an ATPE member who is the proud teacher of 44 amazing third graders. This year I have the pleasure to teach reading, writing, and social studies to my students in a Title I school, where 98% of our students are economically disadvantaged and 79% are ELLs. In many cases, my classroom is like a second home for them.

My students are like my own children.

They each look up to me every day to help them prepare to become our future professionals. My goal, as their teacher, is to ensure that I do whatever is necessary for my students to succeed in life.

My Project

Expanding my classroom library, with the requested stools and books, will allow my students easy access to books they can read and want to read. This will also help build confidence when they choose their own reading materials. As a result, this can help improve comprehension, vocabulary and fluency.

I want my student to see independent reading and free choice as a way for them to discover the fun, adventure and pleasure in reading. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind, as I have asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading.
