Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are in grades first through second. All of my students are diverse learners, which means they have special needs. My students have significant developmental delays including severe learning disabilities, autism or other social-emotional difficulties. I teach all subjects including reading, social studies, math, science, as well as life skills. My kids are from a working-class, low-income area. We are a very nice school with wonderful students and very dedicated teachers. As with most schools our budget is limited.
My students need exposure to everything their same age peer are seeing.
My Project
For this project I am asking for a different shapes of pencils for my special needs students. Something is essential as a pencil can be a barrier to a child’s writing abilities.
I have selected a variety of sizes and shapes of pencils to accommodate all children’s individual needs.
I feel writing is an important life skill that all children should have the most ease doing this task as possible.
In this grant I have also included grips to alter regular pencils. I have also included different types of coloring materials to help the children feel included with their peers. All of these materials will help my students feel included with their general education peers.
