My Students

Third graders are just starting to find their voice and become independent. One of the things I love about teaching third graders is watching their confidence grow as individuals. Most of them come in as students who are still dependent on the teacher and other adults to guide and direct them, and leave third grade as students who are taking responsibility for their own learning. They become aware of their roll in their success, and hopefully, are confident they can set and fulfill their own goals.

My Project

We are in a portable classroom with very limited space and no restroom. That means we have to take time to have group restroom breaks inside the main building which takes time away from work. By having our materials organized, ready and close by, we can maximize our learning time and minimize chaos. We are departmentalized so I have two different sets of students share desks and materials. Also, the students need a place to store their personal items such as lunch boxes and book bags. Right now, we are using a book shelf in a closet for storage. The wall hooks would free up that valuable space and give the students easier access to their items.
