My Students

Our 5th-grade class is extremely diverse in background and personality. Most of our students are bilingual, speaking English as well as Spanish or Somali. All of our students enjoy learning new words in the language(s) they don't know. We are constantly amazed and impressed at how well they work together.

We have very talented, expressive and creative students in our group, and we want to give them all an opportunity to experience a play.

We are lucky enough to be located within walking distance of the Children's Theater, so we just need help covering the cost of the tickets!

My Project

It is very difficult for us to go on any field trips as our students/families can't afford the money to pay for them, and we don't have any money in our budget to pay for them. We are fortunate enough to be very close to the Children's Theater and want to take advantage of the fact that we can walk there from our school. It would be an amazing experience for our students to get to see the musical playing now, Matilda. We plan to read some of the book and possibly watch the movie after we see the performance. We would like to give our students the opportunity to see and experience literature in a more creative way.
