Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Kindergarten students are typical five and six-year-old kids who love to play, paint, sing, create and explore the world around them. My students enjoy working with a partner and in groups.
Our school is an International Baccalaureate school where we encourage social and academic development in all our students.
We are a Title I school; my class is made up of 24 diverse students with the majority of them receiving free lunch. My students are kind, caring, and loving kids.
My Project
My goal is for students to feel confident with math skills and grow up to be Mathletes! There are so many careers involving math. I want my students to get an early start on building essential skills. My students will use the ten-frame visuals and magnetic dominoes to practice a variety of math concepts with a partner.
With the ten-frame dominoes and magnetic builders, students will be able to visualize numbers, compare, add, and subtract.
Students will also work in groups playing hands-on games that boost number sense.
Having a variety of math activities will allow students to develop essential math concepts for future success!
