My Project

This project is focused on flooding my classroom with all kinds of materials, costumes, and items that will set the stage to engage over the next few months.

Engagement truly is key when attempting to tap into student learning.

I am always trying to keep my students on their toes in terms of what they can expect from me next. This project features various sports-themed decorations and manipulatives for baseball, football, tennis, and basketball to provide a thematic and exciting way to learn and practice skills relating to addition and subtraction. Other items include a referee costume for my intern, as well as scrimmage uniforms for the students to complete the engagement experience.

Last year was my first year at my current school and I had major success with planning and implementing engaging, thematic activities tied to our grade-level standards. I hope to replicate that level of engagement and excitement this year with my firsties!
