Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My typical day is very busy. The day is packed with whole group and small group/centers. The day is filled with hands on activities. I need more materials to make my math small groups hands on to increase student engagement.
I teach in a Title One school where all students get free lunch and breakfast.
Many of my students are coming to me having never been away from home. They attend school for an entire day and get very exhausted by the end of the day and need extra stimulation as the day progresses. My school makes every effort to increase student achievement and parent involvement.
My Project
The math materials and games will be used to increase student engagement and learning in teacher led small groups. Students who are identified as needing intervention will come and work with me to improve skills that they are struggling to master. They will learn counting and other number concepts that will be used to achieve other skills that will be necessary for first grade.
Students will be using these math materials to improve skills that are needed for further learning and mastery.
The materials will be used to improve engagement and make learning fun and hands on.
