I teach middle school math to 3 groups of students. These classes vary from my accelerated/advanced group, to my inclusion with each student having varied strengths and weaknesses. Math is a subject that students usually love or hate. I love the challenge of turning that student who "hates" Math into at least making them not hate it!
Many of my students come with little to no supplies, and it is left to the school district and myself to fill these needs.
It is difficult to ask for more than the basic necessities on the school supply list, so I am very excited to possibly get some items that are just too expensive for me to fill year after year.
My Project
When students are able to use a dry erase board to show their work, they tend to be more engaged than just using paper and pencil.
There are many advantages to using the boards in class!
They can be used as a large group for me to quickly assess understanding. They can be used in small groups for students to see different ways of solving problems. They can be used individually by students to cut down on the amount of paper being wasted.
It is always challenging to get students to show me their thinking, and I know using these boards will get them excited about this!
