Help me give my students puzzle and game based math centers that promote choice and empower students to be mathematicians!

My students are young, innocent, enthusiastic, and vibrant. They come to school with expectations for excitement and engagement. My students demonstrate strength, perseverance, and commitment at six and seven that I have not seen in many. Ninety-nine percent of the student population at the school is low-income in an urban environment, and 64% of the school population are English Language Learners.
My first grade students deserve to have doors opened for them, experiences presented to them, and tools to success provided for them.
These students deserve to have the best education with no "if, ands, or buts" due to the environment that they live in. My classroom is full of minds that can be agents for change in our world. We are continuing to build a classroom environment that allows us to grow, learn, and thrive!
The use of puzzles and games is a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. Using a guided mathematics and centers approach, students have the opportunity to choose how they want to practice and reinforce mathematics concepts we have learned. Games and puzzles promote positive peer relationships in our classroom and help students learn how to best assist one another while also increasing their mathematical understanding. What becomes a challenge is the fact that first grade has a large and vast curriculum. We learn about addition and subtraction within 20, two dimensional and three dimensional shapes, nonstandard measurement, time, and extending our counting skills to 120 including place value. By having a variety of games and puzzles available for students during their center time, students will be able to make choices about their learning and empower them to be the best mathematicians they can be.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student motivation and engagement, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
Students will be able to actively focus on and engage with math concepts being taught in the classroom. Self-Checking and Early Math Match Ups will allow students to engage in puzzle activities while encouraging self assessment. Hands On Number Bars will be used in small group instruction to help build a more concrete understanding of addition and subtraction. Ten Frames Card Decks will allow students to play a multitude of math games that engage students in higher order thinking and build foundational numeracy. Finally, Operations Equivalency Puzzles will provide an engaging way to practice addition and subtraction. Plus, in a world where students need opportunities to engage with their peers and build positive social skills, our math puzzles and games will have benefits for years to come!
