This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are a great group of kids. I am teaching 36 amazing 4th graders! Most of my students come from a low socioeconomic group, but they are striving to do their best in school! Even though they come from a low income area, they continue to persevere throughout the years. The students are from a very rural area and are making the best of what they have. Many come to class prepared the best way that they can.
My students have proven day one that they are excited and ready to learn about fourth grade!
They are hardworking, creative, and very sweet. Being 9-10 years old is a difficult time of age and they are trying to navigate through school curriculum and social aspects of the school year. They are looking forward to learning about fractions and also about the solar system. My students have struggled this year with math skills. In order to better prepare them to reach 5th grade I would like to try and help them get some amazing items for our classroom. They have been working very hard this year, and I think that they would be extremely excited, pleased, and thankful for these items!
My Project
These materials will greatly influence my students as they learn and review math skills that are extremely important in their educational career! These supplies will be beneficial to their small group learning. I chose the "math in a can" resource to help me teach students in small groups. I also chose the "math manipulative toolkit" packs so that each student has a set of manipulatives at their seat for quick reference when needed. The different math "Grab and Match" cards will be used in small a small group to review essential skills. These manipulatives can quickly be brought out to also help during our science units! Science uses many math skills during experiments and many of the resources can be used by my students.
Math resources will help my students with STEM activities!
These materials will not only further their understanding during math lessons, but they will also be used to help them complete hands on STEM assignments geared towards math. These manipulatives will help them complete any math and science enrichment activities while boosting their understanding and knowledge!
