Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My third grade math classroom is full of exploration and hands-on activities. We spend the year mastering all four of the basic mathematical operations that are the basis of being a lifelong mathematician.
My students are excited and eager to learn!
My seventy students all come from very different backgrounds, but they all take pride in their learning! They all work extremely hard and try their very best at everything they are tasked to accomplish. They are excited about MATH!
My Project
My students will use these Chromebooks daily to work through a computer-based math program. The math program is a great resource for my students. It allows them to work independently through the Texas math standards specific to third grade.
It is a fun program that incorporates games so that the students are practicing math without really knowing it!
We have five desktops in the classroom, but it is always a privilege and something that they look forward to when they get to use the Chromebooks!
The math talks book will also give me resources to help have my students start performing mental math in their heads. I will also use the cuisenaire rods to help my students build and better understand strip diagrams. We will build multiplication and division strip diagrams with these cuisenaire rods as a whole group, in small groups, and in stations.
