Mathematicians at Work! Math Tools to Help Us Learn
My students need math tools and fun math games to help deepen their understanding of math concepts. The binders and photo storage will help us keep our math learning organized and easy to reference.
My students are enthusiastic and compassionate, and are learning how to be leaders in our classroom every day. We serve a unique population of children at our school, with a high population of students from military families and students with special needs. This variety in backgrounds leads to a great diversity in students, particularly in their academic needs.
Since there is a such a range in their academic needs, I have the opportunity to individualize instruction as much as possible.
The students in my classroom are excited to learn and explore the world around them. The students take school seriously and are enormously proud of the growth they and their classmates make throughout the year. They are very encouraging to each other and cheer on successes or offer support when needed.
My Project
Math tools such as foam dice, rulers, clocks, and geometric shapes will help us to deepen our understanding of mathematical concepts.
I noticed that my group of students this year had difficulty with units such as time and geometry because they did not have any concrete tools to hold and work with.
Having these tools will help them make sense of these concepts.
Fun math games that can be played with decks of cards and The Allowance game will help the students to see how math can be fun and how it is applicable to real-world concepts. Binders and photo cases will also help us to organize our tools and learning for easy reference.
