Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
With technology so advanced nowadays, it's a shame to have old desktops in the classroom that hardly work. Students need a chance to be up to date with technology to do better academically and become 21st century learners.
I teach at an underprivileged neighborhood school in Los Angeles County in California.
Our school is a Title 1 school. We have very limited resources. Although we are in an underprivileged neighborhood, my students still come to class ready to learn.
I have a great group of students. My class is made up of students with limited language acquisition and special needs. No matter what challenges they are faced with, they come to school everyday, on time. My students work hard no matter what.
My Project
Technology keeps changing and my students need to be up to date with it. Most of my students don't have access to technology at home. At school, we go to the computer lab, but that is only twice a week for 40 minutes. Our school uses a program called ST Math that is done on the computer. This program will improve my students' math scores. Most of the time in the lab, the students don't get to finish their math lessons.
With Chromebooks in the classroom, my students would be able to complete their ST Math lessons once they are done with any class assignments.
It would be an awesome way for them to keep learning the math standards that they are already learning in class.
