My students need a read and solve word problem center, an early math activity center, early math match-ups, hands-on math centers and a giant magnetic ten frame.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Do you know whats two plus two? Young love to ask this question once they know how to count. In fact at that age they love to do math. That's why I want to foster that love now so it continues as they move up in school.
I teach a group of eager kindergarten students who love to do anything that contains math.
They attend a public school in East New York Section of Brooklyn. This is a high poverty area but that does not stop them from wanting to learn. In fact it sometimes is their driving force.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will be used by my students during center time. After the topic has been taught and I feel they are able to handle it on their own they will have the opportunity to reinforce the prior knowledge they gained. This will help build their self confidence. The hands-on math, read and solve word problems center, early math activity center and early math match up will do this job. The giant ten frame will be used to teach the group how numbers are together in value and sums.
If you look in the dictionary math is defined as a noun.
Mathematics- the study of number, shapes, and measurement and their relationships and properties. I want my students to fall under the definition for mathematician- a person who specializes in mathematics. With your help this dream can become a reality.
