Ms. Berg from Memphis TN is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need 2 Ipods and a MP3 listening center to help them with reading, writing and math skills in a small group setting.

Do you remember what school was like for you? Its even more rigorous now for these students. The standards and the expectations are constantly changing, however the materials that we have are not. We cannot continue to use the same materials and obtain greater results.
My students attend a Title 1 school with 98% of the student population living at the poverty level.
The students do not let their present circumstances dictate how bright their futures may glow. Many of our students are unable to receive support from home because our parents have a lack of technological knowledge. Thus our students fall short and lack many of the necessary technology skills that we use daily. However, they are quick learners and have figured out how to maneuver their way around computers and an Ipad 2. These tools are preparing them for the future and grooming them to be life long learners and successful adults.
I am requesting an iPod and a listening center. Research shows that technology is an excellent educational resource. I will be using the iPod in several different ways. For example, there is a plethora of math games and apps for the iPod. These will be great to use in math centers or during partner or small group time. The apps can be used to accelerate learners who are ahead of their classmates or they can be used for students who need remediation. The listening center will be great for this because it comes with headphones. In addition to math apps, we can use the iPod to record the students when they read. Also, I can record mini lessons for the students to listen to during differentiation. We can use it to research projects and learn more about the world around us. There are so many ways to use this educational tool. I believe this iPod will motivate and encourage my students to continue working hard and put forth their best effort!
Please consider donating to our project and making our classroom a classroom filled with learning, fun, hard-work and awesome technology!
The Ipods are innovative and fun ways for my students to gain necessary mathematical skills that they will need to become successful citizens.
