This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My super scholars are one of a kind. I meet these scholars face to face about 2 months ago. Some were eager to be in my class, some didn't know what to expect, and the others were just shy. Over the past 2 months, I have found that i have some of the most comical, loving, helpful, and hard working group of scholars to work with.
Even though most of my scholars come from low income families, they don't stop them from reaching for the stars.
For example, I have scholars who are siblings. They also have a lower elementary sibling. The scholars wanted to learn so badly that they shared a school issued laptop. These same siblings reached out to me for manipulative to assist them in learning the place value skill. I wanted to help them, so I used some old manipulative from a kit, given by the district.
My Project
The materials requested will enhance my scholars' ability to grasp the concepts more vividly. These materials will help them follow along with the lessons being taught. I have several students who are hands-on learners and this materials will help them. The scholars will use these items in their home setting to have a more hands-on approach.
Most of our scholars live in low income areas.
This will help our parents as well. Again, if we are granted these items, it will help the scholars feel as if they are in the classroom learning. The scholars will be able to practice math facts and gain confidence in their work to participate more.
