Mathalicious - A Digital Curriculum for the Common Core!
My students need to experience a new digital curriculum from Mathalicious, along with supplemental Common Core texts and self-checking problem solving cards.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
How can we strive to master the new Common Core standards? How do we make sure students are engaged in math? Introduce them to lessons with real-world connections!
teach 7th graders that attend a Title I inner-city public school in a low socioeconomic area where they crave technology and stimulating resources that are not available to them through no fault of their own.
Virtually every student qualifies for free lunch, and many live in single-parent households. Some students live in rough neighborhoods where signs of bullying are a daily occurrence. School is a safe haven, but sometimes bullying does occur.
My Project
Mathalicious is a website with a variety of Common Core lessons that engage students by making real-world connections to the mathematics we learn in the classroom. The lessons are interactive, utilize technology, and fun. They compel students to think critically through the math and apply basic math skills to real-world scenarios. By providing them with access to these lessons, their appreciation for mathematics will surely grow, as well as their engagement in the classroom. I am also requesting an assortment of Common Core exemplar texts in math and some self-checking problem solving cards for students that finish early and need to stay engaged.
It is so important to engage our students in mathematics and to show the practicality of it with how it is used in everyday life.
Your donations will support an innovative new way to introduce mathematics in the classroom, specifically one that leverages technology and requires students to develop critical thinking skills.
