My students need Math in a Flash discovery cans, double dice and pick a problem to explore the concepts in each of our math units for our guided math centers.
Our students are a creative group of 8 and 9 year olds who love to learn. Our classroom is a unique environment. Learning is fostered and students feel safe and valued and take chances and risks in their learning.
Our third grade students are full of ideas and like to explain their ideas.
They enjoy working cooperatively and become engrossed in the activity at hand. A primary focus of third grade students is discovery and exploration. They are industrious, full of energy, and often exhibit curiosity.
My Project
These materials will enhance our students learning by allowing them to use the materials for specific math skills during our guided math centers.
These manipulatives will aide in the cognitive process and additionally will engage our students and increase their interest in mathematics concepts.
Students will be given the opportunity to use the math in a flash discovery cans filled with materials, the pick-a-problem game and double dice in small groups at the rug to strengthen their ability to communicate and engage mathematically on a variety of topics with classmates during their centers. Each discovery can correlates directly to each math unit of study that we cover in grade 3.
The hands on learning that our students will experience with these math can games, double dice, and word problems is real learning that will keep our students focused and allow them to teach one another through peer interaction.
