My students need a way to have visual learning. A color printer helps color code the learning and hands-on activities in order to teach Resource math to students with visual, cognitive, and auditory processing delays.
Our classroom is diverse and dynamic. We have 20 students with various strengths including athletics, robotics, family support, and academics. Each student has a story and a history. We have many who speak 2 or 3 languages and some who have recently come to our school.
Despite individual challenges, each student comes to class with a mindset to try, possibly make mistakes, and learn from those mistakes.
As a teacher I hope to teach useful math techniques to help students gain confidence and feel success.
My Project
Hands on materials with color help students with processing disorders have a longer lasting memory. A color printer would help provide for my students and make a variety of materials fun and tangible. Dry erase boards help students display learning in a variety of ways and access feedback instantly.
Color coded learning means the x and y axis are not confused and that vocabulary and definitions can be kept separate.
Activities help students create a concrete connection in their minds and recall information more quickly. My students all have a learning challenge to overcome. A math world of color helps them achieve.
