Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember doing worksheet after worksheet in order to learn your math skills? There is a new way hands-on learning through SmartBoard interactive games and posting math vocabulary.
My students attend public school in Massachusetts.
Many of these students speak English as a second language and find it difficult to learn new math vocabulary. One of the ways to address this is by posting math vocabulary for all to see with a picture and a definition. My students would also benefit from using the SmartBoard to play math games.
My Project
The CDs requested with this project will give students the chance to play games using technology (SmartBoard) and learn math. The students will learn all the math strands (number sense, data analysis, geometry, and algebraic thinking) by playing these highly motivated games.
I am requesting a pocket chart and vocabulary cards to create a word wall to help students with limited English learn the vocabulary necessary to learn math. I am also requesting math literature to help students understand math concepts from reading stories.
My project is so important because students need opportunities to learn not by doing worksheet after worksheet but by playing and being involved with math.
Students will have the chance to work together cooperatively and learn together.
