My students need math hands-on materials such as sort & slide activity math centers and cards to help bridge the gap from concrete learning to more abstract thinking.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
One time I heard this quote by Earvin "Magic" Johnson
"All kids need is a little help, a little hope and somebody who believes in them."
I am a bilingual third grade math and science teacher in Texas for 33 students.
All my students come from different countries, all have different home environments and everyday is a challenge. Starting by trying to express themselves by learning a second language that is English. Math is giving them a sense of ownership because it is a common language. Numbers will be numbers no matter the country.
My Project
My students have a language barrier and sometimes have a difficult time visualizing mathematical concepts. I am requesting materials that will help catch the eyes of my students like the Problem Solving Cubes, Show Your Answer, Math Challenge and more. We will use these materials daily. The Sort & Slide Elementary Math Activity Centers for example, have materials that can help represent dividing a whole into fractions. By literally showing students how fractions divide up a whole, and what is left when the parts are divided into new piles, students can see and learn to calculate fractions in their heads. Another example where manipulatives will be useful with abstract thinking is in geometry. The Folding Geometric Shapes will allow students to visualize this concept. These math instruments will be an exiting, engaging and fun way students to master math.
Remember that a person is a product of their environment.
So choose the environment that will best develop in this case a students success. I am very sure that all the help that you are providing will be useful in this little corner of Texas.
