Help 3rd grade students learn Math through hands on tools and practice. This classroom has learners of all different ability levels- some with special needs and others who excel in math. Regardless of the ability level, hands- on learning is key in mathematics to help students understand the concepts they are learning- not just memorizing facts and formulas.
Students in the is classroom have limited access to math manipulatives and tools. This is my first year in a new grade level and I do not have any math manipulatives or tools of my own. I am able to borrow them as needed from colleagues, but this presents a challenge as we are often teaching the same lessons on the same day needing the same materials.
Most students in my classroom do not have math fact flashcards at home and most all need that daily practice and reinforcement to master their facts. 3rd grade is a key year for mastering facts as all math in the upper grades is dependent upon these skills.
This proposal request is for hands on math manipulatives and tools for students to use in the classroom. It also includes a key component for learning- take home math practice with multiplication and division practice rings that each student may use to reinforce and practice at home.
Your help will ensure that my students move out of 3rd grade with a solid understanding of mathematical concepts and a mastery of math facts. These concepts and facts must be learned during this critical year in order for students to move on to more advanced learning in the future. Thank you for reading this proposal and supporting it with any help you can!
