Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a wide range of cultural and economical structures. My classroom is a blended community of bilingual students, low income and middle class families, students with special needs, and students who are TAG. This makes differentiation crucial to their learning experience and also brings a multitude of lenses to our lessons.
My students love hands-on learning experiences where they get to apply what they've learned in class and make it relevant to their world around them.
They aren't afraid to ask questions and take risks because they know our classroom is a safe place to do so.
My Project
I am requesting a class set of Math Manipulative Toolboxes from Lakeshore Learning. I believe that students learn better when they are presented with models and manipulatives in order to solidify math concepts.
These products will help my students grasp the concepts of arrays in multiplication, fractions, number lines, and place value.
My students will use these math toolboxes during our math block as an integration into our current curriculum and during math rotations when my students work independently on their math skills.
The boxes will allow for easy storage and the ability for my students to access these tools when needed. They will use these to build and practice their math skills in third grade.
