This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As second language learners, my students' need for technology and visual resources is great. This is hard to accomplish when you do not have the essential equipment.
I teach at an underprivileged school where money and resources are lacking.
My students are second language learners with limited experiences. Most of my students do not have a computer at home, or even access to one. They are enthusiastic learners, but they are falling behind in our technology-rich society. By having an HP notebook computer, I will be able to provide my students with new resources and ways to learn what otherwise can be challenging and unfamiliar information. A notebook will help promote student understanding of mathematical relationships, as well as challenge and motivate them to higher levels of thinking.
My Project
By using these resources, my students will be able to learn on a different level. They will be able to practice skills learned in class, and discover new connections. With an HP notebook, my students will be able to complete math projects that challenge their new skills, bringing them one step closer to success in math. By incorporating the notebook into the classroom, I will encourage my students to push themselves to that next level. I never want my students to be content with minimal knowledge. I want to foster the love of learning that will last a lifetime.
Because the notebook will also allow for Internet usage, my students will be able to see how learning math is relevant to the "real world." By learning this, they will be more excited to learn math and expand their mathematical brain.
This project is so important to my students because Math and Technology will allow them to stand out amongst their peers!
Using this technology will help them to become more successful in school and life! I hope all of my students can look back and say that they felt successful because of the math they learned in fourth-grade!
