My classroom is an interactive experience with flexible seating to help meet all of my different students learning styles. The flexible seating I have created has helped those with ADHD, Autism, and other disorders are able to move while learning. This is a great way to accommodate students while at their desks. I would like to further my student's education by incorportating more math literacy into their vocabulary. I would also like to help prepare them for the adventure of Junior High by having a giant timer in the hallway to teach them time management as well.
These students come from extremely low-income homes, don't always have what they need, and come to school ready for stability.
As a school, we strive to create a stable environment that promotes learning. The past few years, I have invested my own money to obtain things for my classroom that my students needed or would benefit from. However, I find myself at a place where I can't afford to continue to buy things such as this for my classroom. This is where I need your help. I want to expand my student's knowledge of mathematical vocabulary and teach students about time management.
My Project
Having access to an actual math dictionary will be useful for helping students look up the definition of mathematical words. They struggle in a normal dictionary due to multiple meaning words and figuring out which one is the mathematical term.
Along with expanding their vocabulary knowledge with dictionaries, I am teaching the students time management.
They have to get to classes super quick at Junior High and getting them from class to class quickly now when the classes are grouped together is a challenge. The timers will teach time management so they can visually see how much time is being wasted.
