This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are bombarded with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. However many challenges they face, I am dedicated to providing my scholars with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My pupils are honest, upbeat, humorous and smart.
They are inquisitive and exude positivity. Many of my students are raised in single parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. Both things affect them from getting ample opportunities early in life. I understand at home life may be arduous; however, I aim to control their experiences they encounter in Ms. B.'s classroom. This allows creativity and positive interactions. I am positive that through positive motivation my students will continue to strive both academically and socially.
My Project
The use of math activities almost is a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. Using the workshop model in math, students use whiteboards for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. For instance, whiteboards allow me to view exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. What becomes a problem is the fact that the markers never seem to last, erasers seem to disappear, and the whiteboards slowly become stained from frequent use.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether their materials are going to work or not.
